SKILLED WORKER APPLICATION

http://www.canada.org.uk/visa-info/immig/e_sw.htm

Under this process, you submit only a basic application form and fee. This guarantees your place in the processing queue, meaning that the regulations in effect on that date will apply to your application. When the visa office is ready to assess your application, you will be asked to send the required supporting documentation.

Who should use the simplified application process?

Most applicants will qualify for the simplified application process. You must use the simplified application process unless you:

are a provincial nominee; or

have been selected by Quebec; or

are eligible for points for arranged employment; or

have a legal temporary resident status in Canada as a worker or a student and are submitting your application at the Canadian visa office in Buffalo; or

have a legal status in the United States and are submitting your application through the Canadian visa office in Buffalo

Canada is currently recruiting immigrants who have:
a good education

employment skills that are portable to the Canadian labour market

sufficient funds to settle

communication skills (in English and/or French) that will enable them to integrate readily into the Canadian community

Furthermore, immigrants must be of good character and have good health.

FACTORS

According to the legislation, Skilled Workers are people who may become permanent residents on the basis of their ability to become economically established in Canada. Skilled Workers must:

• meet the minimum work experience requirements;

• earn enough points in the six factors (education, language ability, work experience, age, arranged employment and adaptability) to meet the pass mark,

AND

• meet the minimum financial requirements.

APPLICATION FORMS

As a result of these changes, there are new APPLICATION FORMS to apply for a Permanent Resident Visa. These forms are available now online from this website or at www.cic.gc.ca

To accompany the new application forms, there is a GUIDE FOR FEDERAL SKILLED WORKER APPLICANTS that:

• explains the application process;

• provides instructions on how to fill out the forms, and

• provides information about the necessary documents and fees that you MUST include with your application.

THE APPLICATION

Most applicants apply directly to this office, but should you seek the assistance of an immigration consultant it is entirely your responsibility to determine their competence, and you should note that no special consideration is given to such applicants.

Instructions on how to apply are found below. The application forms are available for viewing or download on the FORMS page.

Please submit the following items to this office by mail.

1. Application form - fully completed application form.
